About Audicles Hearing Services
Audicles Hearing Services started in 1944 as Sonotone of San Antonio. Arthur and Gretta Small took over the office in 1958 and later welcomed daughter Carrol Green to the staff in 1971. Jane Watson joined Audicles in 1982 as the staff audiologist. The combined strengths of hearing aid dispenser and audiologist gave Audicles the leading edge in providing a full range of services to the hearing impaired of San Antonio. Audiologist Tracy Board joined the Audicles team in 2004 and quickly fit into the family.

About Dr. Jane Watson

Jane joined Audicles in 1982 after serving as a clinical audiologist at University Hospital where she specialized in pediatric and diagnostic evaluations and performed diagnostic testing for the ENT residents. In 2003 Jane obtained her Doctorate in Audiology from PCO in Pennsylvania through their distance-learning program. During  her education she discovered that hearing aids and rehabilitation are what she loved the most about her profession. The combination of her school experience and over 35 years of “real world” experience makes Jane an excellent clinician with a heart for all of her patients at Audicles.

Jane has served on many boards including the Scott Haug Foundation and is a member of both the Texas Academy of Audiology and the American Academy of Audiology. Jane has also been a guest speaker to many local organizations that have concerns about hearing healthcare. For the past 15 years she has conducted a hearing wellness clinic at Air Force Village and served as a contractor for the VA in San Antonio for several years. The combination of clinical and hearing aid skills has made Jane a valuable consultant to various school districts and several ENT physicians. Her love of helping people gives Jane a special talent for helping each patient find the right solution for their hearing problems.

About Dr. Tracy Board

About Our Staff
Our staff works as a team and is dedicated to assisting you and your family. They are
an integral part of our team and some members of our staff have been with us for over twenty years!
Sandy:
Sandy has been with the Audicles staff since 1989. What started out as part-time grew into a rewarding relationship. Over the years Sandy has been front office person, hearing aid processor, insurance person and is the detail go to person.

Diane:
Diane has been with Audicles since 1991. She helps with answering the phones, making appointments and checking hearing aids for our clients. Diane is the person you see when you check out after your appointment and occasionally she is the person who will greet you at the front desk when you come in.
Barbara Lee: Barbara has been on the Audicles team since 2001. She came onboard to help us move our computer data when we relocated to our current location & thankfully stayed on. She is the behind the scenes business manager who does our payroll, income tax and any bookeeping assistance. You may not get a chance to see her in person but we couldn't do without her!
Shawna: Shawna started with Audicles November of 2007. At the front desk, she is usually the first smiling face you will meet when you come to our office. She calls to remind you of appointments and calls when a new appointment needs to be scheduled.
Debbie (LVN): After working many years in hospital, neuro-otology & ENT physican office settings, she joined the Audicles team in 2009.  As an clinic assistant, she cares for our patients hearing aid needs.  This includes care, service, troubleshooting and instruction.  She is currently exploring the opportunity to obtain a license in Fitting and Dispensing of Hearing Instruments.

Why the Giraffe?
People are always curious about what our giraffe has to do with hearing. Well, nothing actually! Several years ago, we did a health fair at the zoo and handed out coupons for hearing screenings. We put two giraffes on the envelope and people made a lot of positive comments about them. Two days later, Sandy saw a shirt with a giraffe and the saying, “Head and shoulders above the rest” on it. The rest is history. We have found that people can remember a giraffe better than the name Audicles…
